Ministry of Education has stated A'Level examinations will proceed as scheduled unless Edexcel decides to make changes over the recent leak of A'Level papers.
In a press statement, the education ministry stated it is safeguarding the A'Level papers and ensured there would be no leaks from any of Maldives' examination centres. The ministry stated Edexcel is currently investigating the leak of A'Level papers of some subjects via online platforms, adding that A'Level examinations in the Maldives will proceed as scheduled unless Edexcel decides otherwise.
The A'Level examinations began with 2,821 students in the Maldives on April 26, including 1,890 school students from the Greater Male' Area, and 931 students from schools in the atolls. The examinations are being held in a total of 44 centres in the Maldives, including 6 centres in the Greater Male' Area, and 38 centres in the atolls.
Previously, the exam had been set to begin on May 5 and to end on June 17. However, Edexcel brought some changes to its A2 and AS exams, moving the exams ahead of the previous schedule.
Due to the new schedule, the local Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) exams have been set for June 13 to 17, which is one month after the A2 and AS exams.
