Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has briefed the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives.
The foreign minister and the secretary general had a virtual meeting to discuss on matters related to COVID-19. During the meeting, foreign minister thanked Secretary-General Guterres for the assistance provided by the United Nations since the start of the pandemic, including the two projects mobilised under the United Nations COVID-19 Response and Recovery Multi-Partner Trust Fund which has contributed towards protecting vulnerable groups of society.
Minister Shahid was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, and the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations Thilmeeza Hussain.
