Health Protection Agency (HPA) has imposed a curfew between 2100hrs and 0400hrs in the Greater Male' Region.
HPA revealed the curfew will be imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Male', Hulhumale', and Villimale' starting from May 6. HPA stated the Maldives Police Service (MPS) will continue to issue permits for delivery services and other essential needs.
HPA has reported a record breaking number of new COVID-19 cases each day and the latest update from HPA shows a significant rse in positive cases in the Greater Male' Region. Due to the spike in cases, the government has closed its offices and allowed employees to conduct their work at home, and made services available online. The government also ordered classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to be held online in the Greater Male' Region.
The new measures also include closing down parks, sports centres, and tracks until May 10.
