Curfew in Greater Male’ Region to begin at 1600hrs starting from May 12

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced the curfew in the Greater Male’ Region will begin at 1600hrs starting from May 12.

HPA announced further measures on May 11 as part of efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives. As such, HPA announced a curfew will be imposed in the Male’ area from 1600hrs until 0400hrs starting from May 12. All movement is prohibited during curfew hours, unless a police permit is obtained. HPA has also announced the suspension of prayer congregations in the capital until further notice.

Further measures announced by HPA include the suspension of dine-in services from all cafes and restaurants. Delivery services can be provided with a police permit until 0000hrs.

HPA has tightened restrictions in the Male’ area due to the latest surge of COVID-19 cases in the capital. The past week has seen the record numbers of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives, especially in the Greater Male’ Region.
