Health Protection Agency (HPA) imposes curfews in Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll and Feeali, Faafu Atoll.As such, HPA will be imposing the curfews from 2100hrs to 0400hrs for a one-week period starting May 16.
HPA has also imposed curfews in Naifaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, Maafushi in Kaafu Atoll, Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll, as well as Mathiveri and Ukulhas in Alifu Alifu Atoll. HPA also announced curfews in Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll and Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. Furthermore, HPA has imposed curfews from 1600hrs to 0400hrs in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.
The curfews are part of the efforts to control the increased number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives. Residents under curfew are not allowed to visit neighbouring homes or go to cafés or restaurants. However, HPA will allow food service outlets to conduct delivery services and shops to provide their services under HPA guidelines.
Those exempt from obeying the curfew include officers of the police and military services as well as health officials and members of the COVID-19 task force.
