The curfew imposed in the Greater Male’ Region to curb the spread of COVID-19 has been extended until May 25.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) imposed a curfew in the Male’ area from 1600hrs until 0400hrs starting from May 12 for a period of one week, following the latest surge of COVID-19 cases in the capital. HPA announced the curfew has been extended until May 25 as cases continue to surge. All movement is prohibited during curfew hours, unless a police permit is obtained.
As part of measures imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19, HPA has also suspended of prayer congregations in the Greater Male’ Region until further notice. HPA has also suspended dine-in services from all cafes and restaurants in the Male’ region. Delivery services can be provided with a police permit until 0000hrs.
HPA has imposed curfews in multiple regions across the Maldives due to the ongoing wave of COVID-19 cases in the country. As such, curfews have also been imposed in Addu, Fuvahmulah, Kulhudhuffushi and several other islands.
