Drainage pits around Mulee’aage to be reduced for security purposes

Male’ City Council has started reducing the number of drainage pits in the area surrounding the official residence of the President, Mulee’aage, for security purposes.

In a tweet, newly elected member of Male’ City Council Ahmed Nareesh revealed some of the drainage pits placed around the premises of Mulee’aage are being removed upon request by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). He noted the work is being carried out under the supervision of the city council.

MNDF has raised its alert level following the terrorist attack on May 6, which severely wounded Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed. Since the attack, armed soldiers of MNDF have been operating in different areas of Male’, as well as the atolls.
