Harmonising salaries in education sector is a high priority: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed education is a high-priority sector in the government's plans to harmonise salaries for public sector employees. He made the statement at a meeting with the leaders of Jalaluddin School, South Thiladhunmathi Education Centre and Afeefuddin School, during the first couple's visit to Haa Dhaalu atoll.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih highlighted how Afeefuddin School was one of the two schools being developed this year to fully execute the inclusive education policy in the Maldives, noting that the government had planned a total of five schools modelled around this concept. At the meeting, the president also revealed that a vaccination programme aimed at teachers, educators, and students aged 12 and 18 years is currently underway.

During the meeting, the leaders of three schools in Haa Dhaalu Atoll confirmed that the current government has resolved numerous longstanding problems they had faced and assured they are on schedule for the new academic year and that everything is being carried out according to plan. The school leaders also shared avenues for further improvements, such as capacity-building for their staff and enhancing facilities for students.

The first couple's visit to Kulhudhuffushi City is the first leg of a three-island trip to the north of the country.
