BML opens a Btech classroom in Gemanafushi

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the opening of a BTech classroom in Gemanafushi, Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

The classroom was designed to provide practical training to BTech students preparing to work in the hospitality industry. The project was carried out by Dhivehi Masveringe Jamiyya, a local non-governmental organisation on the island.

As part of the project, a classroom was built as a replica of the work environment to provide practical experience for BTech students. The classroom will aim to provide students with experience in customer service, housekeeping and basic cooking skills that will help students gain experience while learning essential skills required to work in the industry, revealed BML.

President of Dhivehi Masveringe Jamiyya Ahmed Shafiu stated the students are required to learn the essential skills and gain experience in the hospitality industry, adding it is quite difficult to get the opportunity from resorts and guesthouses. However, he said the BTech classroom would ease the difficulties faced by the students, adding the classes are held once a month and students are required to bring their own supplies and tools.

The BML Community Fund is a programme conducted to empower individuals and non-governmental organisations to contribute to the community.
