Ministry of Islamic Affairs has contracted a local company to build a temporary mosque in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The Islamic ministry revealed Yes Maldives Private Limited has been contracted to build a temporary mosque near the Hiya flats in Hulhumale’ Phase II, to accommodate 450 worshippers. The company has been contracted to complete the construction of the mosque within 2 months and 20 days. The price of the project is USD 280,000.

A large number of people are currently moving to Hulhumale’ Phase II, after Housing Development Corporation (HDC) began issuing keys for the recipients of Hiya flats. HDC stated preparations are ongoing to begin a bus service to Hulhumale’ Phase II to ease transport to and from the area. HDC added plots have also been issued for the development of shops, supermarkets, clinics and pharmacies.

About 30,000 people are expected to move in to the 7,000 flats built under the Hiya housing project.
