MPL to hand over Hiyaa flats early next year

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has revealed the apartments from the Hiyaa housing scheme allocated to its employees will be handed over early next year. The CEO of MPL Shahid Ali made the statement in his speech at the ceremony held to mark the 35th anniversary of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

MPL began construction of the towers in Hulhumale' in 2018 as one of the companies participating in the Hiyaa housing project. As such, MPL is constructing three 14-storey towers consisting of three-room apartments.

CEO Shahid said construction was delayed due to difficulties following the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he said construction work has resumed and that MPL expects the towers to be built in early 2022. He said the Hiyaa housing scheme is the largest investment and gave his guarantee that the employees will receive the apartments next year.

Hiyaa is the largest public housing project conducted in Hulhumale' Phase II, with 6,720 apartments accommodating over 25,000 people.
