Shore protection of Buruni and Gaadhiffushi contracted to MTCC

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to carry out shore protection projects in Buruni and Gaadhiffushi in Thaa Atoll.

The shore protection project in Buruni includes construction of a 369-metre breakwater and 220-metre revetment. The project was contracted to MTCC for a price of USD 1.87 million, to be completed within 8 months.

Meanwhile, the shore protection project in Gaadhiffushi includes construction of a 500-metre revetment and 15-metre groynes. The project was contracted to MTCC at a price of USD 1.15 million, to be completed within 6 months.

Buruni and Gaadhiffushi have a land area of 35 hectares and 13 hectares respectively. Both islands have a population of about 600.
