New parking zone to be developed in Alimas Carnival in Male’

Male' City Council has revealed it has begun a project to establish a parking zone with a capacity of 555 vehicles in Alimas Carnival in Male' City.

The parking zone in Alimas Carnival would become the largest area dedicated to parking in the city upon completion of the project. Male' City Council stated the parking zone can house accommodate 500 motorcycles and will also have 55 slots dedicated to car parking. The council is currently developing and leveling the land in the carnival area for the parking zone and stated that it plans to complete the work and open the parking zone as soon as possible.

The parking zone is part of the council's efforts to solve the issue of lack of parking space in Male' City, despite the increasing number of vehicles. The council is currently working to establish parking zones in the planned areas as well as transforming empty lots into parking zones. The council has also stated it will be establishing multistorey car parks in order to decrease congestion by decreasing the number of vehicles parked in the streets.

Male' City Council has also lowered the fee for reserving parking slots, from USD 194 to USD 49.
