MTCC to carry out Phase 2 of Ungoofaaru road development

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to carry out the second phase of road development in Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll.

The contract for the project was signed at a ceremony held at the planning ministry on November 4. The contract was signed by Director General at the planning ministry Zeeniya Ahmed and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim.

Under the project, MTCC will carry out asphalt paving and installation of stormwater drainage systems in additional roads of Ungoofaaru. The project was contracted at a price of USD 1.4 million, to be completed within one year.

The first phase of the road development project in Ungoofaaru is also carried out by MTCC. The first phase, which includes asphalt paving, installation of stormwater drainage systems, speedbreakers, road signs and street lights in 14 roads of Ungoofaaru, is currently in its final stages.

The road development project in Ungoofaaru began in March last year. The first phase of the project cost USD 1.8 million.
