MTCC contracted to develop new OPD building in KRH

Ministry of Health has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop the new OPD building in Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH).

The contract for the project was signed by Minister of State for Health Ahmed Adil and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa. The contract was awarded to MTCC at a price of USD 1.3 million, with the project expected to be completed within 180 days. The scope of the project includes construction of 21 consultation rooms, a cardiac centre, reception area and a waiting area.

MTCC is also currently undertaking the construction of a new ward building in KRH. Both projects are part of efforts to expand the hospital and increase the hospital’s capacity.

KRH is the largest hospital in the northern atolls of the Maldives. The hospital serves a large population across the northern atolls, including 10,000 people in Kulhudhuffushi City and 16,000 people in the remaining 12 islands of Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The hospital currently has a bed capacity of just 36, including 12 in the general ward, 8 in the surgical ward and 12 in the emergency room and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
