MTCC completes Centara reclamation project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) holds a ceremony to mark the completion of the project, Centara New Resorts Maldives: Reclamation of 3 Different Islands.

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam participated in the ceremony with Ministers of State for Planning Akram Kamaludheen and Shifaz Ali. In addition, the Area General Manager of Centara Grand Island and Centara Ras Fushi Prapaijit Thongma, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim were also in attendance along with the state-owned company's management team.

The project was awarded to MTCC by Lagoon Assets Private Limited. The state-owned company completed the project on November 24 at a cost of USD 26.29 million. The scope of the project included the reclamation of three artificial islands at Vattaru Falhu, Vaavu Atoll. Each of the reclaimed islands has an area of seven hectares.

MTCC stated the completion of the project is a milestone in the 40-year long history of MTCC as it is the most extensive international project in value.
