Teachers need to be motivated, says Higher Education Minister

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has stated teachers can only fulfil their duties if they are enthusiastic about the work they do. He made the remarks while speaking at the Prize Day 2019 ceremony held in Baa Atoll Education Centre.

Speaking at the event, Higher Education Minister Hassan said teaching has become a challenging profession and that teachers will find it difficult to remain motivated. The minister said teachers provide a priceless contribution to society and are one of the most hardworking individuals. He also said students can no longer be taught with just textbooks, and that the teaching profession is required to keep up with the latest technologies if Maldivian students are to excel in global standards.

Over 40 students were given awards at Prize Day 2019 held in Baa Atoll Education Centre. Awards were given to students who excelled in various subjects as well for achieving top scores in the O' Level and the A' Level examinations. Students also won the President's Award as well as certificates and cash prizes.
