MNU wins award for Best Culinary Institution in the Indian Ocean

The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) of Maldives National University (MNU) has won the award for the Best Culinary Institution under the Indian Ocean category of the World Culinary Awards.

The award was announced on November 30, 2021, on the official website of the World Culinary Awards. MNU’s FHTS won the award after competing with nominees from Seychelles and Mauritius.

FHTS won the award based on its efforts to build and develop culinary skills, and the progress it has achieved in the sector. As such, the faculty has conducted various culinary courses and participated in different culinary competitions held both nationally and internationally.

Upon winning the award, Dean of FHTS Zeenath Solih said it was an honour for the faculty to become the first winner of a culinary award from the Maldives. She acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the senior management of MNU and FHTS, as well as staff and students of the faculty, that led to the award.

World Culinary Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in the culinary industry. World Culinary Awards is the sister event of World Travel Awards, both of which were inaugurated in 1994.
