Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has stated only the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has the authority to change the ownership of the T-jetty in Male' City.
MPL stated it received the T-jetty after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the planning ministry in 2015. Some media outlets recently reported that the agreement has expired. However, MPL has stated the agreement does not have an end date.
Male' City Council earlier announced its decision to transfer ownership of the T-jetty to the council.
As such, Male' City Council ordered MPL to transfer the T-jetty to the council within 90 days and to remove any company's property from the T-jetty area. MPL will reach the deadline for transferring the T-jetty to the council on December 12.
