MWSC begins to establish water and sewerage project in Kunburudhoo

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has commenced the project to establish water and sewerage facilities in Kunburudhoo, Dhaalu Atoll.

The project was inaugurated by Managing Director of MWSC Hassan Shah, Board Member of MWSC Ibrahim Anwar, Parliamentarian Hassan Zareer, and President of Kunburudhoo island Council Mohamed Azmee.

MWSC has revealed efforts are underway to transport pipes and other equipment required for the project. The project includes the establishment of a 75.2km main water network in Kunburudhoo, the construction of a building for reverse osmosis (RO), the installation of two RO plants to produce water, and the installation of three tanks to store water. In addition, water meters will be installed in the households, water connections to provide safe drinking water will be provided to the households.

Furthermore, the sewerage system includes the establishment of a 30.2km main sewerage network in Kunburudhoo, the construction of a 374m pumping line, the construction of an administrative building, the construction of two pumping stations, and the construction of a sea outfall.

Meanwhile, sewerage services will also be provided to the households by installing junctions and connecting sewerage connections. As part of the project, generator sets, vehicles, and water analysis equipment are to be provided to maintain the water and sewerage system.

The water and sewerage project in Kunburudhoo was contracted to MWSC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for a cost of over USD 806,000.
