Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated travellers to India are required to undergo a seven-day home quarantine.
In a statement, the foreign ministry stated the Government of India has implemented new measures as part of its efforts to minimise the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country. As part of the measures, travellers to India are required to have a 72-hour PCR test prior to arrival and disclose their travel history in the past 14 days.
Travellers will be able to leave home quarantine after receiving a negative PCR test after the seven days but will be required to self-monitor their health for the next seven days. Travellers are also required to submit a self-declaration form and the results of the PCR tests taken after the home quarantine period to the Air Suvidha portal. Children under five years of age are exempt from obtaining a negative PCR test prior to arrival and after the seven-day home quarantine but will be required to take a PCR test if they show signs of illness during the quarantine period.
The foreign ministry urged Maldivians to obtain the latest updates on COVID-19 measures prior to travelling to India.
