Gov't ceaselessly continuing to develop nation: MTCC

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been ceaselessly continuing its work to develop the nation since coming to office.

Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adam Azim said citizens were deprived of basic services such as clean water and sewerage systems three years ago, and that the administration has been working to establish these services since coming to office in 2018. He also noted the numerous projects MTCC conducted to provide much-needed services and infrastructure for citizens in the atolls. As such, he said the state-owned company is currently conducting 35 harbour development projects, two airport development projects, and numerous water supply and sewerage projects.

He also said 25 harbour development projects and an airport development project were completed during the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted that the government has been ceaselessly continuing its work to develop the nation since coming to office and that most of the work had been previously neglected.

Furthermore, CEO Azim said the companies contracted to complete the projects are also the ones responsible if they fail to complete the work within the deadline. He said it has resulted in the fast and efficient completion of projects, noting previous administrations had taken two or three years just to develop a harbour, while such projects now take one year. He added the government has not wavered in its commitment to fulfilling its pledges to the people, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and that its work will increase in the coming years.
