Over 55,000 tourist arrivals recorded in first 12 days of 2022

Ministry of Tourism has revealed over 55,000 tourists arrived in the Maldives in the first 12 days of 2022. Most tourist arrivals to the Maldives were from Russia, according to the statistics published by the tourism ministry.

As per the statistics, 55,055 tourists arrived in the Maldives during the period, with 11,007 tourist arrivals from Russia, which makes 20% of the total tourist arrivals for 2022. At the end of last year, Russia recorded the second-highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives. At the time, the Maldives had the highest number of tourist arrivals from India. India currently has the fourth-highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives. A total of 3,075 tourists arrived in the Maldives from India during the first 12 days of the year.

The Maldives currently has the second-highest number of tourist arrivals from Italy with a total of 4,313 tourist arrivals. The statistics show that an average of 4,588 tourists arrive in the Maldives daily.

Tourists arriving in the Maldives usually spend eight days on holiday.
