HPA opens administration of booster doses to public

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has opened the administration of the COVID-19 booster doses to the public. HPA began public administration of booster doses as part of the nationwide vaccine programme, following the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

HPA revealed all individuals above the age of 18 who have reached six months since receiving their second COVID-19 vaccine can receive the booster shot of the vaccine. The health agency announced Pfizer vaccine will be administered as booster doses and that appointments can be made for booster doses through the portal. Booster doses were previously administered only to health workers, frontline workers, and high-risk individuals.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism announced it has organised means by which airport representatives working at tourist facilities can easily receive COVID-19 booster doses. The tourism ministry stated airport representatives can receive booster doses from the recreational centre at Velana International Airport (VIA) from 0900hrs to 1100hrs.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has stated employees at the airport can also easily receive the booster dose from VIA.
