Bison Maldives to develop first houses of Maldives Floating City

Bison Maldives has been contracted to develop the first houses of the Maldives Floating City project.

The floating city project is carried out by a company from the Netherlands called the Dutch Docklands. The contract to develop the first houses of the floating city was signed with Bison Maldives on February 9.

Bison Maldives said the opportunity to view the first houses of the floating city will be opened to the public once construction is completed. The company expressed hope the houses can be completed soon after Ramadan.

The Maldives Floating City project is the first of its kind to ever be developed in the world. The floating city is planned to be developed within a ten-minute distance from Male’ and Hulhule’. Once complete, the city will span a lagoon of 200 hectares, comprising of various establishments such as residences, shops, and hospitals. All of the establishments will be designed and developed to float on shallow water.

The project is expected to cost about USD 1 billion.
