VP discusses development requirements for Faafu Atoll

Vice President Faisal Naseem has focused on a wide range of developmental requirements for Faafu Atoll. The discussions took place during a meeting with the members of the Faafu Atoll Council, the Nilandhoo Island Council, and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC). The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Faafu Atoll Council in Nilandhoo as part of his ongoing two-day visit to two islands in the Faafu Atoll and Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.

Members of the atoll council shared with Vice President Naseem the challenges faced in Magoodhoo due to space constraints in the harbour, coastal erosion in Dharan'boodhoo, and the state of roads in Nilandhoo, in addition to difficulties faced by patients of the atoll hospital and financial constraints of the council.

Members of the Nilandhoo Island Council spoke with the vice president about expediting the water and sewerage network project. They also shared their financial constraints, in addition to issues related to the harbour, the state of the mosque and the scarcity of land. Members of the WDC discussed with the vice president ways to address their financial constraints.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Naseem assured the members that steps would be taken to address their concerns and seek amicable solutions through the relevant government bodies.

Prior to the meeting, the vice president toured and assessed the situation at Faafu Atoll Hospital. He then visited the Faafu Atoll Education Centre and met with the management and staff.
