Special constabulary services to be provided in Male’

Male’ City Council has signed an agreement with Maldives Police Service (MPS) for the provision of special constabulary services in Male’ City.

Male’ City Council stated an agreement was signed for the special constabulary services to strengthen the municipal services provided in the capital city. As such, the city council revealed the special constabulary will attend to offences such as illegal parking and stocking of goods and materials as well as littering in roads, parks and public spaces in Male’ and Villimale’. The special constabulary is also tasked with carrying out the policing of all areas which are overseen and maintained by the Male’ City Council.

The city council revealed MPS had informed that the training of officers for the special constabulary will take about three months. The council said the services will be provided from May 14, 2022 until May 13, 2024.

The budget for the special constabulary services is allocated by the Male’ City Council.
