Ministry of Tourism has revealed over 100,000 resort employees have received their booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As per statistics, 114,039 resort employees got their booster shots which consist of 40% of total resort employees. Meanwhile, a vast majority of resort employees have completed their first dose. As such, 99.6% of the employees have received the first dose and 97.4% have received the second dose.
The Maldives publicly launched the campaign to administer the booster dose on January 15. A special priority has been given by the government to the industry under the vaccination programme, as tourism sector employees are those who directly work with tourists arriving in the Maldives.
A total of 152 resorts are currently operating in the Maldives with a total of 41,431 employees.
