Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof has revealed every 4,000 people will have a pitch by the end of the Football Stadium Infrastructure Project in the Maldives. He made the statement while speaking at the Parliament of the Maldives answering questions posed by parliamentarians.
When inquired about the latest developments of the pitch development in Veymandoo, Thaa Atoll, Minister Mahloof noted the delay in developing football pitches is not because of the ministry, adding there is pending work related to the project. The minister highlighted only 600 football pitches are developed in the UK for the public, which is one pitch per every 111,000 people.
He expressed, however, upon completion of the existing projects in the Maldives, a pitch per every 4,000 people will be available. He added the development of football infrastructure is important considering the support for football in the country.
