Ministry of Tourism and Kondey Island Council sign an agreement on leasing land for tourism purposes.
The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of Tourism Ministry Fathimath Nilfa and President of Kondey Island Council Ahmed Abdul Hakeem. The agreement was signed at the request of the Kondey Council to provide administrative and technical assistance regarding the land to be leased from the island for tourism development.
Speaking at the signing agreement, the president of the island council said the venture marks the end of numerous efforts by the council since the beginning of the current term. He said the agreement will directly benefit all the residents of the island.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ahmed Athif said the agreement shows the extent to which Kondey Council wants to develop tourism in the island. He also assured the full support of the tourism ministry.
The first guesthouse in Kondey was opened in December last year.
