Sri Lankan Airlines to increase flights from Colombo to Addu starting October

Sri Lankan Airlines has decided to increase its flights to Gan International Airport in Addu City, starting from October.

General Sales Agent of Sri Lankan Airlines in the Maldives, Ace Aviation Private Limited, revealed the airline will increase the number of flights operated to Addu to three flights per week starting from October 1. The flights will be operated every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Sri Lankan Airlines commenced flights between Colombo and Gan International Airport in Addu City on December 1, 2016. The operations were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before resuming once again on December 4 last year.

The airline had earlier expressed concern over the lack of passenger movement in its flights to Addu due to the lack of connecting flights from other domestic airports. However, with the commencement of connection flights to Addu by Manta Air, the flights between Colombo and Gan now have a high passenger movement. It has also boosted tourist arrivals in Addu.
