Manta Air ready for international flights starting with India

Manta Air, a domestic airline based in the Maldives, has prepared to launch international flights.

Manta Air was officially launched on November 22, 2018, and flights officially commenced on February 24, 2019. Manta Air currently operates scheduled flights to three airports in the Maldives which include Dhaalu Airport, Dharavandhoo Airport, and Gan International Airport. The airline launched charter flights to Hoarafushi Airport on September 5 under an agreement with JA Manafaru Maldives Resort.

Speaking to PSM News, CEO of Manta Air Mohamed Haleel said the airline is now preparing to launch flights to international sectors, adding the first international destination will be India. He noted final approvals are pending from India's Ministry of Civil Aviation. He said other destinations will be introduced if the Indian market serves beneficial.

Manta Air is working to launch flights to other international destinations besides India. Manta Air has been licensed to fly to Sri Lanka as well. Manta Air revealed it will continue to build capacity as it launches international flights. Manta Air currently operates three ATR aircraft and a Beechcraft for domestic flights and 11 seaplanes are in its fleet.
