Maldives discusses inviting visiting doctors from India

Vice President Faisal Naseem has discussed the possibility of the Maldives inviting periodic visits from doctors and psychiatrists from India. The discussion was held during a courtesy call by the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Munu Mahawar.

During the meeting, Vice President Naseem extended his gratitude to the government of India for its continued support of the Maldives through the High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP). The discussions were held regarding facilitating drug detoxification and rehabilitation centres in the Maldives. Further discussions were held regarding the development of human resources in the Maldivian health sector through training, vocational training opportunities for Maldivians, and the development of the sports sector in the Maldives.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem and High Commissioner Mahawar spoke about ways Indian start-up incubators could provide capacity-building and training opportunities for private-sector businesses in the Maldives. The high commissioner expressed India's keenness to provide medical and pharmaceutical equipment to the Maldives. He also assured India's continued support and assistance to the Maldives. In conclusion, they expressed eagerness for continued relations and cooperation.
