Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) is seeking a contractor to develop a nursing home and disability management centre in Hulhumale’.
HDC has invited interested parties to submit their expression of interest for the development of the centre under a land lease model by 1400hrs on February 7. The design of the centre will include easy accessibility for persons with disabilities as well as a special parking zone and waste management mechanism.
Currently, the elderly and persons with disabilities are cared for at the special needs home in Guraidhoo, Kaafu Atoll. However, the centre has faced challenges in providing adequate care due to the lack of resources and capacity.
The government has planned for the development of nursing homes in Male’ and other regions. As such, the special needs and disability management centre to be developed in Hulhumale’ would become the second such centre in the Maldives.
