Fenaka Corporation Limited has been contracted to build ice plants in Fiyoaree and Madaveli in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of Fenaka Ahmed Saeed Mohamed and Ahmed Yameen, the Director General at the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture. Fenaka is tasked with building a 25-tonne ice plant in each of the islands within 170 days at a cost of USD317,000, as per the agreement.
The administration has so far built ice plants in 10 regions, which are Maduvvaree in Raa Atoll, Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll, Felivaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, Gaafaru in Kaafu Atoll, Feeali in Faafu Atoll, Fuvahmulah City and Hulhumeedhoo in Addu City. The administration plans to build 15 more ice plants this year.
