Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed new members to the Board of Directors of Addu International Airport Private Limited (AIA) and Kadhdhoo Airport Company Limited (KACL).
PCB appointed Shathif Ali to the Board of Directors of AIA and Colonel Ahmed Shareef to the Board of Directors of KACL. PCB appointed them under Article 12 of the Privatisation and Corporatisation Act and they received their letters of appointment at a special ceremony at the Ministry of Finance on June 22.
During the ceremony, PCB gave a presentation on the Privatisation and Corporatisation Act and the Corporate Governance Code. The board also requested the new directors to implement the necessary changes in accordance with the financial and governance reviews of the two companies. They also discussed the current challenges facing the companies.
Shathif Ali holds a Master’s in Management from the Australian National University. He previously held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Management and Computing at Maldives National University (MNU) and General Manager of Business Development and Marketing Department at Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO). He was the General Manager of Southern Operations at WAMCO prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors of AIA.
Colonel Ahmed Shareef holds a Masters’ in Military Science from the United States Marine Corps University and has completed training in the military and management fields in various countries around the world. He has also served in various positions in the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and previously served as the Managing Director of KACL. He was the Principal Director of the Department of Strategic Security and Assessment of the Ministry of Defence prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors of KACL.
