President reveals development plans for Funadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced plans to transfer the fuel storage tanks situated in Funadhoo, Kaafu Atoll, with intentions to establish new businesses and construct a contemporary hotel on the island.

At a campaign event held in Male' City to launch the Ufaaveri Male' policy from the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) manifesto, President Solih said he plans to establish a transport link between Funadhoo and Male', as well as a convention centre, shopping malls and a city hotel in Funadhoo. He said the hotel will offer specialised entertainment facilities, as detailed in his manifesto, and the necessary funds for these developmental projects have already been allocated.

Additionally, President Solih addressed various urban challenges in Male'. He pledged to create specialised parking zones to alleviate the city's parking issues and promised to provide housing to individuals in need during his potential second term in office.

Furthermore, President Solih proposed several key initiatives to tackle congestion in the capital city. He pledges to establish neighborhood parking zones, enhance the modern transport system by expanding the Greater Male' Connectivity Bridge, and widen the Sinamale' Bridge. In addition, he plans to create a dedicated marina for liveaboards currently docked in Hulhumale', relocate the Male' Commercial Harbour and Male' North Harbor to Gulhi Falhu, transforming it into a central hub for warehousing and distribution.

He also pledged to establish a cruise terminal in the northern region of the capital, while also introducing shopping malls, cinemas, parks, and various entertainment facilities in the area to enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
