ACC to be given full access to Gedhoruverin Portal

Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed has stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will be given full access to the Gedhoruverin Portal.

The previous government stopped allocating 4,000 flats in Hulhumale' following the instructions of the ACC over complaints about the list of recipients. The applications were processed via the Gedhoruverin Portal.

During a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Petitions, Minister Haidar said the new administration's housing policy consists of developing areas where people can live comfortably. He also said that they will not nullify the list of flat recipients but will evaluate the list and allocate the flats to eligible applicants.

Additionally, Minister Haidar said that the new administration will resume the process of allocating flats under the recommendations of the ACC. He said that they are prepared to follow the commission's instructions and that eligible applicants will receive housing. He detailed that the ACC will be given full access to the online portal after the developers make the necessary changes within a week.

ACC members were also summoned to the petitions committee for taking too long to complete its investigation, which is undermining the public's right to affordable housing. During the meeting, the ACC members said that they aim to complete their investigation and allow the government to resume the allocation process as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the ACC members said that the list of flat recipients has major issues, such as residents of the atolls being designated as residents of Male' or awarding points for having children even to those without. As such, they said that it would take some time to complete their investigation.
