Gov't to begin reconstruction of Male' Hiya, Sinamale' flats

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the reconstruction of the Male' Hiya and Sinamale' flats will begin in February.

Speaking at the Kangathi Awards 2023 ceremony, President Muizzu said that the previous government had stopped all major initiatives he had attempted to commence as Mayor of Male' City. The projects included developing roads, bringing the local market and fish market under one roof and introducing modern solutions to solve the traffic congestion.

Additionally, President Muizzu expressed concern over the deterioration of the Male' Hiya and Sinamale' flats, highlighting that he had proposed a solution earlier this year with the demolition and redevelopment of the flats. He said that he was unable to proceed with the initiative as Mayor due to various challenges but that the government has decided to begin reconstruction in February.

Furthermore, President Muizzu said that the Male' City Council will begin efforts to redevelop and modernize the roads next year. He assured that he assumed office with comprehensive development plans and ease the convenience of citizens.
