President advocates enhanced women's role in construction workforce

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has shared his vision for increasing women's involvement in the construction sector workforce. He shared the remarks at Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) Builder Awards 2023.

During the ceremony, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the administration's collaborative approach with MNACI and industry stakeholders to formulate policies that enhance opportunities for women in the sector. Furthermore, he expressed a broader vision for inclusivity, advocating for the participation of individuals with disabilities in the construction industry.

Addressing the issue of foreign companies dominating government projects over local counterparts, the president affirmed the administration's commitment to rectifying this imbalance. He pledged to propose necessary revisions to laws and regulations after consultations with industry leaders, signaling a readiness to reconsider the existing point system if needed. President Dr. Muizzu stressed that promoting Maldivian nationalism involves reclaiming control of local craftsmanship and industries.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the construction industry, President Dr. Muizzu was honored with the 'Honour of Bodu Rasgefaanu' at the ceremony. The plaque was presented by Mohamed Ali Janah, the President of MNACI. Additionally, the President conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award to Abdulla Mohamed, Chairman of Amin Group of Companies, and Mohamed Ali Janah, Chairman of Hotels and Resorts Investment Maldives.
