Heritage Minister calls for pursuing opportunities to foster unity

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has stated that the efforts made to commemorate National Unity Day shows there are more opportunities to foster solidarity among citizens.

Speaking at the ceremony held to mark National Unity Day, Minister Naseer highlighted the activities carried out in institutions and the atolls to mark Unity Day. He said the efforts made were an important part of the President's policy of reviving nationalism.

Additionally, Minister Naseer noted that one of the main characteristics of the Maldives is unity and that the administration's policy of reviving nationalism will further strengthen the feeling of solidarity among citizens. He urged all relevant parties to support the government in these efforts.

Furthermore, Minister Naseer reflected on the tragic events of December 26, 2004, when Maldivians endured a catastrophic natural disaster. He emphasised that citizens commemorate this day not only to remember the devastation but also to honour and cherish the unity and solidarity exhibited in its aftermath. As such, he said that citizens mark Unity Day to renew hope amid challenging circumstances.
