President and First Lady to make state visit to China

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed are scheduled to undertake a state visit to China from January 7–12 on an invitation extended by Xi Jinping, the President of China.

President Muizzu is expected to hold official talks between the two countries during his visit to China. The President will be traveling with a delegation consisting of several ministers.

President Muizzu's first official state visit was to Türkiye in November at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The visit was marked by official talks aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

Afterwards, President Muizzu participated in the Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, UAE. During high-level deliberations, the president addressed global leaders on climate change, underscoring the Maldives' expectations for COP28.
