Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has announced that portions of the last two segments of Ameenee Magu will be opened to the public on January 10.
The ministry has stated the junction between Ameenee Magu and Izzuddeen Magu, as well as the junction between Kanba Aisaarani Magu and Ameenee Magu, will be accessible to the public from 0600hrs on January 10. The completion of asphalt laying for these segments by the Road Development Corporation (RDC) on January 7 marked the conclusion of the project within 28-days. RDC stated installation of traffic signs along these newly developed road sections are underway.
Furthermore, the ministry said, segments 12 and 13 of Ameenee Magu are slated to be open to the public on January 13 at 0600hrs.
The Ameenee Magu development project, initiated by the previous government, faced delays and suspension as the last year's presidential election approached. The remaining segments, 12 and 13, commenced redevelopment on December 9, incorporating four lanes to enhance public convenience upon completion.
With the completion of asphalt laying on Ameenee Magu, the government has undertaken a broader initiative to modernize all city roads and improve the drainage system.
