MTCC to relocate STELCO fuel pump station

State Electric Company (STELCO) has contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the relocation of the fuel pump station on Bodothakurufaanu Magu. The agreement was signed by Managing Director of STELCO Hussain Fahmy and Managing Director of MTCC Abdulla Ziyad.

During the signing ceremony, Fahmy said that the decision to relocate the fuel pump station was made to alleviate significant inconvenience to drivers. He emphasized the company's commitment to adapting its operations to enhance public convenience. He also disclosed that MTCC has been tasked with completing the project within 60 days and STELCO will fund the project. He added that the company is allocating USD110,000 from its budget for the removal of the pump station.

Meanwhile, Ziyad outlined the plan to lay a concrete sheet in the lagoon after obtaining approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), adding that the project will be finished within the stipulated timeframe. He highlighted that the existing pump station on Boduthakurufaanu Magu would be demolished once the new pump station is operational. He also said that the redevelopment of the area around the new station is expected to enhance public access to the highway.

The current STELCO fuel pump station plays a crucial role in supplying diesel to the company's power plant in Male' City. The company ensures that the relocation process will be carried out seamlessly without disrupting its services.
