Gov't stresses postal access on all Maldives islands

Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has emphasised the importance of accessible postal services on every island in the Maldives. He made the remarks during the launch ceremony of the Postal Forum at Meeruma Hotel in Male' City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shareef highlighted the swift launch of the Postal Forum within three months of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tenure. He expressed gratitude to Maldives Post Limited for organising the forum in collaboration with relevant authorities and institutions, commending the expertise and dedication of Maldives Post personnel recognised by the government.

Additionally, Minister Shareef underscored the relevance of postal services despite technological advancements, stressing its integral role in facilitating communication and fostering e-commerce growth. He lauded the convenience offered by e-delivery and pick-up services.

Furthermore, Minister Shareef envisioned the expansion and enhancement of postal services across the nation. He suggested increased utilisation of postal services by government entities to curtail expenditures, highlighting the potential for local councils to contribute to the expansion efforts.

The Postal Forum serves as a platform for disseminating updates on the development of the Maldives Post, fostering dialogue, and exploring avenues for service enhancement.
