President and First Lady inaugurate 'Isravvehinge Naadhee'

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajida Mohamed have inaugurated the 'Isravvehinge Naadhee'. Opening a dedicated centre for senior citizens is a key pledge in the Administration’s “Hafuthaa 14” road map. Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Ministers, and high-ranking Government officials were also in attendance at the ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion, the President emphasised the importance of respecting Maldivian core values such as Islam, the Dhivehi language, culture, and tradition to shape the country's future. He added that the newly opened centre will be instrumental in this national effort. He requested that the older citizens make the most of the centre and assured them that the Government would prioritise their needs and offer all required assistance.

The President remarked that the centres for people with disabilities had been neglected in the past but that the current Government has initiated measures to rectify the situation. He affirmed that the Government will persist in giving special consideration to senior citizens, people with disabilities, and other in-need groups. Additionally, he stated that housing projects would prioritise providing opportunities for such citizens.

During the ceremony, the President also inaugurated ‘Ufaa’, a photo competition.
