President stresses local involvement in Kondey agriculture

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the involvement of both the local council and residents in advancing agriculture in Kondey, Gaafu Alifu Atoll. He made the remarks while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Kondey.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu pledged equitable development for all islands, irrespective of size, highlighting the potential of Kondey for agricultural growth despite its small population of 600. He underscored the abundance of available land on the island, suggesting that agricultural expansion could significantly enhance individual prosperity.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the government's commitment to diversifying the economy beyond tourism, with agriculture being a key focus. Emphasising its significance for food security, he outlined ambitious governmental objectives for agricultural development in the Maldives.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu acknowledged the community's call for an expanded harbour in Kondey to accommodate its growing population. He also pledged enhancements to healthcare services, resolution of electricity issues, expansion of educational facilities, provision of sports amenities, and facilitation of banking services to meet the island's needs.
