MPS tows over 300 vehicles for obstructing daily commute routes

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has towed over 300 vehicles in Male' as part of efforts to clear vehicles obstructing daily commute routes. This initiative, operational since March 13, aims to alleviate traffic congestion experienced in Male' and Hulhumale' due to illegal parking.

Highlighting their efforts, MPS revealed that on April 1 alone, 19 vehicles were towed from Ameenee Magu. Monitoring of illegal parking has been intensified, particularly in areas such as the green zone, public transport roads, road corners, street corners, and school zones. Towed vehicles will be dismantled at Thilafushi.

Earlier, MPS temporarily suspended parking stickers in Male' City in January due to persistent complaints about traffic congestion caused by vehicles parked on both sides of roads.
