President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), has appointed Major General Ibrahim Hilmy as the new Chief of Defence Force. This appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, on April 17, 2024.
The ceremony to present the letter of appointment took place this morning at the President's Office, marking the official assumption of duties by Major General Ibrahim Hilmy as the Chief of Defence Force.
In addition to appointing Major General Ibrahim Hilmy as the Chief of Defence Force, President Muizzu also appointed Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas as the new Vice Chief of Defence Force.
