Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has revealed that 47,296 individuals have cast votes in the ongoing parliamentary elections.
ECM disclosed that 16.61 % of the eligible voters cast votes within the first two hours of voting. This includes29,411 men and 17,885 women. Therefore, it can be inferred that a total of 237,367 individuals out of 284,663 individuals who are eligible to vote have yet to do so.
With the parliamentary election electing candidates competing for the representative position of 93 constituencies, voting hours will continue until 1730hrs.
ECM has urged individuals to cast votes promptly, as the time allocated for voting will not be extended provided any circumstances.
